BRUNCH AT HAWGS DELI

We were heading out east to pick out tiles for the new condo. With a little bit of research, M found this jem called HAWGS located near Anjou/St Leonard. We loved the branding, so we thought we'd check it out.

Restaurant Front

There are two large rooms that make up the entire restaurant. We sat in the bar area, near the end. Our room was filled huge tv screens, all of which were playing the news and sport highlights. There were not too many people there, but from the crowd that was there, you could feel it was a laid back spot.

Within a few minutes we were served our coffee- and it was delicious! We browsed the menu and saw that the majority of the items were under $12 (there were three dishes that were a little over $14- all of which had smoked salmon). They had a little bit of everything- traditional egg dishes, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, omelettes and eggs benedict. M decided on her usual two eggs/two pancakes combo and G decided on a hearty breakfast club.

Our meals came out rather quickly. The food and presentation was simple but extremely delicious- it's exactly what you'd expect for traditional breakfast dishes. The portions were large, so you left feeling very, very full.

"Oeufs et Crepes" - eggs, pancakes, ham, side of fruit and beans ($10.95)
"Breakfast Club" - breakfast club sandwich, potatoes and fruit ($8.95)

In terms of service, it was good. There were not many people in the restaurant, which would explain for the speedy service, but out waitress was very nice.  It took a little bit long to get our bill, but other than that, everything was fine.

We can admit that HAWGS is in a very unusual part of town, but we kind of like that; it's off the beaten path. We also love that it has a modern feel but still has the retro, down to earth vibe.   We also noticed that there was a terrace outside in the front, which would be perfect for the summer- we can't wait to head back in a few months . . . (and by the way, they serve breakfast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!)
