BRUNCH AT B&M

We were searching for a new place to check out in Outremont and stumbled across B&M (which means 'Bob & Mike'). When were were looking for the directions, we noticed that they had three locations across the city: two in NDG (Somerland Ave & Sherbrooke St.) and one in Outremont (St. Viateur).

Restaurant Exterior

From the exterior, there isn't anything special about B&M. Once you go in though, it's quite nice.  The white tables and walls make it super crisp; the black damask accent wall adds a little jazz to the space. There's also a couple of TVs, so if you're bored with your company, you can take a gander.

Restaurant Interior

We were meeting up with another couple, however we arrived before them. Even though there were tables available, we had to wait for our friends to be there (even if they were parking their car just around the corner). Quite honestly, there is nothing more annoying than when you arrive at a restaurant and they ask for your whole party to be present before sitting- it just doesn't make sense and is super irritating. So, we were forced to wait at the bar until our friends arrived.  We were not too fond of the hostess, either.

View from our table

Luckily our waitress was very sweet (and bilingual!). By the time we sat down, we were all desperately due for drinks; we ordered beverages before even looking at the menu. Two people ordered regular filtered coffee and those came out right away. G ordered a latte and a friend ordered a fresh-squeezed juice - but those took forever to come out.

At first glance, the menu is very big: classic egg combinations ($6-$17), eggs benedict ($12-$15), frittata ($14), and omelettes ($9-$15; they even have the "Quickie", where you can create your own omelette for $9).  For those who like sweet dishes, you can choose from waffles, pancakes or crepes, all of which range between $7-$11.  You can also find some breakfast sandwiches, bagels and healthier dishes like yogurt, granola and fruit cups. Our dishes came with toast, but we swapped them for toasted baguette. Unfortunately coffee was not included, but it costs a small $1.25 and came with free refills.

Omelette X: salami, hotdogs, onions and pepers, potatoes and fruit
Hungry Meal: 2 eggs: 3 meats, 2 pancakes, potatoes and fruit
Ready to dig in! Bon Appetite!

The plates at B&M are h-u-g-e, so if you're planning on heading there, make sure to have a really empty stomach.  The food was really good, and the coffee was great- that, and your friends by your side, is the combination for a perfect morning (just be sure to be there all at the same time!).  The prices are fair considering the amount of food you get. In terms of atmosphere, it was very casual, so it's inviting and relaxing. B&M could improve on their service delivery as it was a bit slow, but we'd still recommend this joint. . . . (and M says to get the pancakes!)
