BRUNCH AT BYBLOS LE PETIT CAFE

We thought we should try non-traditional brunches here and there One place that people have spoken about is BYBLOS LE PETIT CAFE, located on avenue Laurier, thats serve middle eastern food.  Our friend Alex joined us that morning.

When we arrived at Byblos, there was quite a large line. We eventually made it inside, but that's when it became even more awkward. We were forced to stand super close to people's tables while they ate- it was really uncomfortable, to say the least. In addition, the hostess was less than friendly- it was a terrible first impression.

We didn't think their 'first impression' could get any worse, but it did. When it was time to be seated, the hostess pointed towards a dirty table, showing us where to go and sit.  We said that we would wait for it to be cleaned, but she insisted we sit at the table. We can't really explain it, but this hostess isn't someone you would want to challenge in any way- so we sat at a dirty, grimy table, after waiting nearly 45 minutes.

The menu has a lot of options- but the majority of the items lean towards 'lunch'; 'breakfast' items are on the first couple of pages.  To start our morning, M decided on Arabic tea and G & Alex chose fresh juice and a latte.

M chose 2 eggs and Alex and G chose the feta omelette.  All of the dishes came with a bread basket and an assortment of jams. We could choose two jams, so we collectively decided to sample all 6 that were available.

Overall the food was great. The jams and bread add a little something different to your typical brunch- there were 6 flavours and they were all very special.  Between the typical eggs and feta omelette, we all agreed that the feta omelette was the best choice; it's not a typical omelette- it feels whipped and is super smooth.

While the food is good we would NEVER go back. The service was absolutely horrible- not only was the hostess and waitress completely rude, but the food took forever to come out (and making eggs doesn't take that long).  It was this brunch that we realized that service is a deal breaker for us.
