About Us

One of the greatest things about living in Montreal is the amount of free stuff you can do. One of these things is having the privilege of listening to the beautiful sounds of the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra on the weekends in the Old Port. Considering that it was the last weekend that they would be playing, we and another couple made our way to the area. We all decided on Jardin Nelson, since it was a place we had yet to try.
Restaurant Front
Jardin Nelson is well known for their beautiful backyard garden. However, since the orchestra was playing in the middle of Place Jacques Cartier, we opted for the front patio to really take advantage of the beautiful classical music.

To start off our brunch, we ordered coffee, which wasn't included in their breakfast meals (they are bottomless-cups, though).  G and her friend ordered a mimosa to kick off their day.

Jardin Nelson offers roughly 15 breakfast dishes (not much), however you can choose from their large selection of crepe from their main menu, adding more variety. Most of their dishes run between $12-$15.  Some of the choices include: casserole omelettes, pastries, morning burrito and breakfast crepes. G settled for a classic waffles, while M decided on the "open faced" grilled cheese.

G's dish: homemade waffles with fresh fruit
Ms dish: "Open Faced" Grilled cheese- baguette slices with dates,
walnuts and blue cheese,  with a salad on the side
The dishes we ordered were good - nothing fancy, but simple. If you wanted toast, potatoes, or beans, that came at an extra cost (a little strange for a breakfast place).

To showcase what Jardin Nelson really has to offer, we took some snapshots of the garden in the backyard. While their food isn't spectacular, this view is.  In addition, they offer live jazz for the brunchers.

Overall, Jardin Nelson has a beautiful atmosphere and is pretty laid back. Their staff was very welcoming and took care of our table quickly. While we would go back again for the gardens, it wouldn't be a place we stop by on a regular basis.  One of their biggest perks, aside from the beautiful flowers, is that they take reservations, regardless of the size of the party.
